“ Enjoyed a beautiful dinner at Japengo after a great day on the water fishing. I wish I remembered what everyone ordered but I was too busy enjoying the sunset and moment with family Service was top notch, view was amazing If you have the opportunity to visit Japengo in the Hyatt I highly recommend you do. Everything was amazing.... Drinks, food, service and the view!!! ”
“ We love going to Japengo when we're on the west side. Our favorite dishes and the ambience really sets the tone at this place. Service is always amazing, food didn't take long and drinks were perfect as well. Definitely a must go if you've never been. ”
“ Great sushi upstairs looking at the ocean! We had one of the signature rolls, salad, edamame, and eel roll. Sat at the bar early at 5pm no rez. Great bartender but can't remember her name. Highly recommend. ”
“ First night on Maui, we weren't super hungry after stopping for a snack at the food trucks by the airport. We had a reservation & they got us right in. Service was fantastic!! Beautiful view, would've been a divine sunset had we arrived earlier. We're going to try calamari at every restaurant we visit - the calamari here was probably 3.5* it was yummy and unique but not warm?? Not sure if that's the intention. We had two rolls and they were good, but not $35 good - and we live in AZ so fresh sushi in Maui should blow outs out of the water (but didn't). We're staying at the Hyatt but probably won't return to this restaurant based on prices and other sushi in the area. ”
“ Service, sashimi and rolls were absolutely excellent. Top it all off with a Kaanapali Pie and you have the perfect meal. Always a great place to visit when we're in Maui. ”
“ Great location within walking distance to the hotels. Beautiful outdoor area overlooking the water at kaanapali. Perfect location to see the sunset overlooking Lanai. You have to get the boa buns!!! They are the best ones I've ever had. The tuna poke has good flavor but no crunch to it. The sushi rolls had lots of fresh fish. Flavors blended well together. Fried rice was good size to share with the table as an app. Desserts were good and the lilikoi sauce was so yummy! Service with friendly and quick. ”
“ Delicious, fresh sushi and drinks, but definitely hotel pricing (think $15+ for 2 pieces of nigiri, $4 for a club soda, close to $30 for a roll, $30 for a margarita). A gorgeous view during the day and staff was very friendly and helpful. We will likely go back when we're back in Kaanapali as we had a great time, but you are definitely paying in part for the convenience of it being at a hotel near the beach. Staff was knowledgeable and accommodating about allergies, including gluten. ”
“ Stop what you're doing and book Japengo now! From the moment you step in, you're surrounded by stunning views, an amazing atmosphere, and impeccable service. And the food? Absolute perfection--every single bite felt like a celebration of flavors. This place is so popular for a reason, and trust me, you don't want to miss it. We booked well in advance and only managed to dine here once, but I wish we could've gone back before leaving Maui--no chance, it's that in demand! Don't wait--secure your reservation now, and thank me later! ”
“ We stayed at the Hyatt and come down to Japengo one night for dinner. We had made reservations ahead of time, but on a week night there was actually quite a bit of seating still available. Our table was on a covered patio area overlooking the water, but it was nighttime when we went so we could not see much. I bet during the day/evening it is gorgeous! Menu was huge, and they had some veggie options for myself which was much appreciated! Food was a little slow to come out, but we were not in any rush so it was fine for us. ”
